The Eggebraatens

Introduction
by Steve Hannah

The work to create this website site started about 130 years ago. There are scans of photos of our ancestors going back to the 1880’s. A family history by Bergit Anderson traces one branch of the family back to the 1450’s in Norway.

2009 Reunion

Cousin Tim is in charge of the 2009 Reunion and it no doubt will be FUN!! Here’s Tim’s email:

It's time to start planning for "Egg-fest" 2009 (the world-famous Eggebraaten Family Reunion).  The Kenny and Pat Eggebraaten family has volunteered to take the reigns for this event and will be accepting applications for numerous positions.  The pay is generous and rewards are plenty!

We have reserved the Turtle River State Park again west of Grand Forks for Saturday, June 13th, 2009This is the date that we have reserved the main meeting lodge however...  If there are any families wanting to rent cabins or campsites at the park, they can click on the website https://secure.apps.state.nd.us/pnr/sp/services/public/reserve/mapview.htm?park=19

Here are some early thoughts:

  • Anybody interested can arrive on Friday 6/12/09 and camp or rent a cabin.
  • Saturday will be filled with "Eggspecially" fun events (still in the planning stage).
  • You can bet that the day will include music and comedy - and that's no "yolk".
  • The potential is strong for later evening activities at the campground for those interested in "Eggstra" bonfire activities

Please make sure you spread the word to your families about this "Eggciting" family get-together next summer!  We'll use the World Wide Web to keep you updated on activities and to make this reunion all it's "Cracked" up to be!  We just wanted to get the word out early to ensure that you will have a better chance of getting the time off from work and make travel arrangements.  E-mail will be the primary method to keep everybody in the loop - if there's someone in your family without E-mail, please get the word out to them (Ellis Haake family- that's you).

If you have any questions or want to volunteer your time or talents, get a hold of one of Kenny's Kids.

We can't wait!  It's always fun to get a bunch of eggs together and crack ourselves up!  It's truly a blessing to have family and this is just another way to get together and celebrate that blessing and catch up on the events of our family.

Arthur Eggebraaten’s Videos

Arthur Eggebraaten spent countless hours doing what he loved. He loved his wife, his family, life in general, all people, the earth, nature, the universe, and he loved God. Arthur captured his life in this autobiograhical film essay and in still photos. These videos capture the world around Art and Helga in the mid-20th century, a life of family, friends, history, agriculture, travel, and endless pleasure.

Cousin Dave Eggebraaten took the loving care to patiently restore these 8mm films, capture them to video tape, and digitally remaster them. His work is superb and I recommend you read his letter.

How You Can Help

I would like to add photos of other Reunions from family members. If you already have them in digital format (scanned) please send them to me. It only takes a bit to put them in the photo album. If they are not digital, you can mail them to me and I’ll scan them in and get them back to you ASAP.
